Farm Stand has a new cooler and Rootdown Farm is filling it with delicious organic vegetables! We have a very limited selection of new potatoes in there too.

We’ll begin to do proper harvest in a week or two. It’s pretty hot for new potatoes at the moment. They may prefer to be left in the ground a little longer.

Seed potato updates (for 2025 crop)

-working on arranging a Langley pick-up location, likely at Nature’s Fare

-Canada Post shipping is getting pretty precious. We’ll likely use the pre-paid mailers for small amounts (under 10lbs) for shipping.

-As usual, we’ll be planning spring delivery and meet-up runs into the Okanagan, Vancouver Island, and the Sunshine Coast.

We had the opportunity to chat with Jordan Marr (Organic BC and Unearthed Farm) about our cover crop program. If you are interested, you can listen to it here:

Thanks to our supporters this year:

Our wonderful customers at the markets and the farmstand, Discovery Organics, Elisa Steakhouse, Cincin, Alta Bistro, Eds Bred, Les Amis du Fromage, HappiLife Farmstand, Stay Wild, Rootdown, Four Beat, Pemberton Valley Supermarket, and our Localline customers! Thanks so much. Can’t do it without you.

We also can’t do it without all the people who have worked on the farm and at market, and that number is over 70. It includes Grade 8 Waldorf, Grade 4/5 Waldorf, several friends, lots of family and complete strangers (who are now friends). Thanks everyone.

Check out our blog. Sometimes we write about the farm and post it here…

Who We Are

circle-sm7We are a family owned and operated farm located in the Seed Potato Capital of North America: the beautiful Pemberton Valley. We have farmed organically since clearing the land and making fields in 1980 and we are the fourth generation of this family to farm in the Pemberton Valley.

What We Grow

circle-sm5We are known as growers of spectacular tasting potatoes. Each one of our up to 18 varieties has been chosen for its own specific taste and cooking characteristic. See our blog and Facebook page for news from the field.

Some of these unique varieties are available in limited quantities as Certified Organic and CFIA certified virus free seed potatoes. Go to our seed potato page for ordering information.

How We Grow

Our farming practices meet or exceed organic certification standards. We also follow Biodynamic methods to further build soil health and fertility. The Biodynamic method of farming encompasses three main principles, these being the application of Biodynamic preparations, recognition of the subtle changes in growing conditions as the earth travels through the cosmos, and striving to make the farm an independent entity requiring minimal inputs (www.biodynamics.com).

When and Where to Find Our Produce

MarketsOur award-winning potatoes are available at farmers markets and restaurants of distinction. Seed potatoes are available for shipping and pick-up in early spring. Carrots, celeriac, garlic, honey, squash and other vegetables appear seasonally at the farmers markets. At certain times of the year, such as Slow Food Cycle Sunday and our periodic “farm open house” dates, we invite our customers onto the farm.

Potato Nutrition

NutritionThey contain protein! Organically grown potatoes can be a healthy meal all on their own. With the skin on they contain protein, more potassium than bananas, and multiple minerals and vitamins. Here in the Pemberton Valley, due to the rich soil and volcanic terroir, our potatoes also contain important and valuable trace elements.
